Mentoring

New Teacher Mentoring

Providing 1-1 mentoring for new educators in the Multnomah & Clackamas County region. Monthly communities of practice events are available to all new educators in the region. 

Mentor Collab: For New Educator Mentors

A professional collaborative exploring highly-effective mentoring models and programming supporting new educators during their induction.

New Principal Collaborative

New principals will receive the tools to implement practices of strong leaders, to build an inclusive, equity centered school culture; to mold a school where everyone wants to work.

New Educator Mentoring (SB 283)

MCREN coordinates a Senate Bill 283 Consortium across the Multnomah-Clackamas region for the 2024-2025 school year for 14 school districts and 1 charter school.

High Quality Professional Learning

Social Sciences for a Better World

In partnership with MESD, MCREN presents Social Science for a Better World to support social science teachers in implementing Oregon’s new social science standards.

Design Lab with Lori Cohen

This workshop series takes participants through a transformative professional design and facilitation learning experience that allows for more equity-centered practices, systems change, and a reimagining of what’s possible for adult learners.

Math Discovery Teams

In partnership with math educators from across the region this project is exploring how students of color, multilingual learning students, and students on IEPs can be better supported in their path to math readiness in high school.

Gladstone Playful Inquiry Learning Collab

In this partnership with the Gladstone Center for Children and Families, this project will test a full year learning collaborative focused on increasing educator’s ability to feel and create joy in daily learning experiences in order to create better student outcomes. 

Building Thinking Classrooms

Building Thinking Classrooms is a research-based strategy that promotes student engagement, collaboration, and critical thinking which aligned with the Oregon Math Project (OMP) cornerstones—belonging, engagement, pathways, and focus. A team of educators from MESD and CESD has been providing BTC professional learning for the region while gathering data on how to launch BTC math transformation in schools and districts with an upcoming project.

Center for Educational Equity (CEI) Certificate Program

MCREN is supporting educators in their efforts to complete the CEI Certificate program. This year long program is designed for improving outcomes for all students, especially students of color, developing leadership skill-building for advancing equity work at all levels, and to create a network of equity leaders in the region.

Wayfinder Adult SEL

The Wayfinder Adult SEL series is designed to provide educators with the skills and support to better care for themselves and each other, leading to a broader capacity to care for students and create healthy school communities.

DEIB Community of Practice

This community of practice  brings Equity Leaders and Change Makers together to lean on and learn from each other.

District Equity Committee

In partnership with Oregon City School District, MCREN supports a new District Equity Committee model that provides responsive training to issues facing the district and support to district and school leaders in anti-bias and the work of belonging.

Administrator Supports

Principal Mentor Training

This Professional Learning Program develops a mentor’s expertise in supporting principals. The training is aligned to Oregon Mentoring standards and integrates research-based best practices with participant’s knowledge and experience.

Portico Mentoring Support

MCREN has partnered with Portico to provide mentoring to educational leaders. Mentors meet with the mentees to provide ongoing support and resources.

Grow Your Own (GYO)/Workforce Development

Educator Experience Dashboard

MCREN’s Educator Experience Dashboard provides districts and ESDs with the ability to access educator recruitment and retention data.

Strategic Staffing

MCREN is exploring how teacher preparation residencies provide extended time for future teachers to learn how to teach before they are responsible for their own classrooms.
