English Language Development Specialists Site Visits
Problem of Practice
Middle school English Learners (ELs) often face barriers to academic success due to inconsistent or insufficient access to research-based instructional practices for language development. This challenge is exacerbated by the fact that many English Language Development (ELD) Specialists work in isolation as the sole language development specialist in their school, limiting opportunities for professional collaboration and shared learning.
By creating a structured observation cycle, we aim to provide a collaborative framework where ELD Specialists from different districts can connect, share effective strategies, and develop actionable solutions to support ELs more effectively. This approach leverages collective expertise to address common challenges and improve outcomes for EL students.
Overview
This project builds a collaborative observation cycle where ELD specialists from across districts share strategies and learn together, breaking down the isolation many face. By strengthening collective expertise, we can expand equitable access to research-based practices and improve outcomes for middle school English Learners.
